Postage

How long does postage take?

We send our products from New Zealand.  We package orders within 1 business day of receiving them. We send all our items with NZ Post and we have a very high delivery within the targeted times.

We can’t guarantee delivery within a certain time frame, especially over busy periods like Black Friday and Christmas, but below are the timelines our couriers work to (note, these are from when the item is collected from us).

You can check any estimated delay in shipping from New Zealand here.

NZ – Auckland – overnight (week days)
NZ – North Island – 1 – 2 Working Days
NZ – South Island – 2 Working Days
NZ – Rural Delivery – add another 2 working days.

Australia

3-8 business days for Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth + Urban NSW, ACT, VIC & QLD.  

6 - 12 business days for SA, TAS, WA, NT or remote / rural areas country wide.  

US - allow up to 2 weeks

ROW - allow up to 1 month


Tracking is sent as soon as the order is set up on our end (usually next business day) so if you haven’t received this check in your junk mail or send us an e-mail at cat@gettinglost.co.nz You can also use the same tracking number to track the final leg delivery through AusPost in Australia or USPS in the US.

What are your Christmas shipping dates?

We send our products from New Zealand.  We send all our items with NZ Post and they are amazing. But delays do happen at this busy time so we recommend the following cut off dates to give your parcel the best chance of getting there in time for Christmas. We are unable to guarantee delivery.

We can’t guarantee delivery within a certain time frame but this does give us the best chance of success (note, these are from when the item is collected from us).

If your parcel is late we offer a free "Your Gift is in the Mail" digital download (RRP $14.95) so you still have something to gift and play while you wait for yours to arrive.

How much is postage?

It depends on where you are. You can enter your address in the cart and you will be provided with a price before you proceed to the checkout.

Game Play

When do you pick a new card?

It’s entirely up to you. You can play each direction until you reach the end of the road, at each intersection, once the direction is executed (for example as soon as you turn right) or you can set a timer for each direction.

How long do you follow a blue car for? 

This one is entirely up to you. Getting Lost is designed for completely random exploration so you want to head in a direction not chosen by you but someone else which is the idea here. It goes without saying that you would never want to make anyone else feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

Can you play the Getting Lost Game outside of New Zealand?

Yes – we have sent thousands of games all around the world and we sell more Getting Lost games outside of NZ now than we do in NZ (how epic is that!)  

The misdirections on the cards are designed to be generic so you can play where ever you are in the world (the only exception is our Out of Town Edition which has some “Kiwi-isms” and our Aussie Edition which has some Australian specific misdirections)

If you come across something that is not valid for your area (head to a beach and you are too far inland) simply draw another card or adapt the card for your area.

Can I play the Getting Lost Game walking?

Yes, we have a Walkers Edition specifically for walkers or a number of our other packs can be used walking too.

Could I play it for a work Christmas Party or Team Building Activity?

Yes! We have a special Office Party Edition just for that!  It’s a great team building activity. Send your teams off in groups or all head off on a bus together! We also provide pricing for corporate gifts so you can send your staff or suppliers off to get lost in their holidays…

 How long does the Getting Lost Game take to play? 

As a general rule of thumb a 10 card pack will take around an hour, 15 cards 2 hours and 25 cards or more allow 4 hours+.  You can shorten this by imposing time limits on each direction.

Have you ever got really lost?

Nowhere we haven’t been able to GPS our way out of yet!

What is the best place you have got lost with the Getting Lost Game?

Me and Kiki, just as the sun was setting over Arkles Bay. The water was flat and tinged with pinks and purples and a pod of dolphins came through. It was magical.

Product Questions

Do you offer a refund or return if I don't like my game?

Yes. If you are not satisfied with your game please contact us within 30 days and we will refund or exchange your game. You must pay for the game to be returned to us in a saleable condition to 1/69 Roseberry Avenue, Birkenhead, Auckland and a refund or exchange will be made once the game is received in a saleable condition.

Do you have specials or discounts?

From time to time we run gift with purchase offers - these are usually a free game or occassionally a suitcase. They require a minimum spend to receive the free product and this spend is excluding postage. They are not able to be combined with any other offer. They are only available for a limited window and we will advertise the end date on our home page. We are not able to extend this to orders before or after this period. Very occasionally (once or twice a year) we will offer a site wide discount on our products. We also offer exclusive offers to our subscribers so we encourage you to sign up to our mailing list.

Is it made in NZ?

Yes, our Getting Lost Games and suitcases are all made in NZ and hand assembled by our team.

What age range is it for?

Everyone! We have friends, families, couples, grandparents and work groups playing the game. The card reader has a bit of reading to do so for children not yet reading they will need some help. Due to small parts we don’t recommend this for under 3’s.  A few of our games – Date Night, Girls Road Trip and Office Party are recommended for 18+ and our At Home Edition is recommended for children 3-12

Can I buy the Getting Lost Game in stores?

Do I need a specific Getting Lost Game for my region?

No, you can play the game anywhere in NZ or the world.  If you come across one that is not relevant for your area simply skip it or change it to suit.

Does the te reo version have English translation or is it all in te reo Maori?

Yes, English on one side of the cards, te reo Maori on the other side.

How did you translate the Te Reo Edition of The Getting Lost Game? 

We worked with Rosie and Kuruho who make a Maori Language Game called the Kaupapa Game. After they had translated our misdirections we all worked with an certified Te Reo Maori Translator to ensure that our translations were perfect.

Can I add my own Getting Lost Card? 

Yes. We have been part of more than 30 marriage proposals, some with custom cards and we’re happy to partner with businesses to create misdirection cards specifically for their customers or staff. Contact us for bespoke pricing at cat@gettinglost.co.nz

What currency are your games in and do they include duty and taxes?

Our games are shown in your local currency where your geo settings reflect your country location and include NZ and Australian GST where applicable. If you are ordering outside of NZ or Australia, this does not include any taxes or duties that your local government may apply.

What taxes are included?

We are a NZ based store and prices include include NZ GST and from 1 November 2021 GST in Australia. Currently we do not include sales tax elsewhere (ie. VAT).

Where is Getting Lost based?

We are based in Birkenhead, Auckland in New Zealand.

Can you come and talk at our event or school?

Yes. Cat has been involved with a number of schools and events and frequently offers her skills and expertise to other game makers and small businesses.  Basically she just really likes to talk!

Orders

Can I cancel my order?

We are only able to cancel orders prior to them shipping.

Can I get a discount if I buy multiple games?

Maybe… If you are purchasing more than 20 games send us an e-mail and we may be able to set you up as a Wholesale customer. From time to time we do offer gift with purchase so look out for these on our Facebook page or sign up to our mailing list to make sure you don’t miss out.

Can I stock Getting Lost in my store
