The Proposal Card
We are very proud to have been part of four Getting Lost proposals to date! So we’ve created a card that you can buy if you want to propose in the most spontaneous and unexpected way yet!
Proposing is tough! You want to make sure it’s absolutely perfect, not cliche and something you will both remember for ever. We’ve been a part of four proposals so far – creating custom Getting Lost cards to pop the question in a unique and customised way. It’s hands down the coolest thing we’ve been a part of.
To make it easier to propose using Getting Lost we’ve made some “off the shelf” cards you can buy. It’s a single card that you can add into one of our packs. There are three different options available – with all the details below. We
Want a custom proposal card? Prices start at $20 – just send us an e-mail – firstname.lastname@example.org and we can let you know some options.
We’ve made four custom proposal cards now, and it got us thinking that maybe we should just make some proposal cards for you to buy. So we did!
Which option do I choose?
Will you marry me? // Date Night – the classic proposal, designed in the style of our Date Night Edition. This card is perfect for surprising someone when they think they are heading out for a spontaneous Date Night playing Getting Lost. Our most romantic edition the Date Night Edition will have you writing notes to each other, looking into each others eyes, dancing, finding new restaurants and date night souvenirs. Comprising of mostly action cards you can pre-select where the proposal card will fall to give you some idea when you will be proposing.
Will you marry me? // Main Game – the classic proposal, designed in the style of our Standard and Adventurers Edition. Slip the card in the pack and head out for the day with no idea where you may end up proposing! Or keep it in your pocket to slip in when you stumble across the perfect spot while playing the Getting Lost Game. This card is styled to fit seamlessly as part of our main game so we won’t give the game away until that card is drawn.
Want to get lost with me forever? // Main Game – our own Getting Lost proposal – perfect for fans of getting lost, designed in the style of our Standard and Adventurers Edition.
Custom proposals – we can make a card especially for you. These start at NZ$20 (depending on complexity) and have a 2 week design and print time. Send us an e-mail at email@example.com to discuss your specific requirements.
So what is the Getting Lost Game?
Purposefully offline, The Getting Lost Game is designed to inspire adventures and get people out of what they know and explore that untravelled path.
Designed by James and I, the Getting Lost Game gives you random directions to discover new places where ever you are in the country.
There are no rules to the game and the ways you can play it are endless and entirely adaptable to the person playing the game.
Here’s some ideas we’ve had though…
- For quick play, pick a new direction card at each intersection
- For a game that lasts a couple of hours pick a new card every 5 minutes
- Want to keep it simple? Just keep in the direction cards (left, right, north, south etc) and take out the trickier ones
- Looking for a weekend get away? Play the game until you get the “head for home” card and then find a hotel or campground in what ever town you are in when you get the card
- Don’t want to stop for treats? Take the treat and drink card out before you start playing
- Want to be totally unplugged? There is only one card that requires the internet (Google the word lake) so just take that one out
- Send the kids off for a walk with the game to explore new places
- Arrive in a new city and set off walking with the cards – take a new direction at each intersection
- Want to surprise someone? Add in your own card in the middle (we’ve done 4 proposal cards already!)
Each card measures 91mm x 55mm and this pack has 10 misdirection cards. On the reverse side are inspiration cards with NZ locations that you can read more about on our blog.
Please remember to play the game responsibly and make sure that you stay safe and able to get yourself back home at all times. The compass is a toy designed for playing the game only so please don’t rely on this for directions.
